I speak specifically to the CFCS/CCSD faculty when I say that there is a high level of professionalism, dedication, knowledge and experience that all these intructors bring into the classroom to prepare their students for the realities of the career paths they choose. They build a strong foundation for you to grow on academically and in your practical work. My respect for them comes from they bringing forth for us all the tools that we could possibly need to equipt us with a good base for our life beyond these campus walls…they have lived it…they have seen the realities that are there – the challenges..the successes – what is valuable and for that – I am grateful.

The best thing about instructors here is they are very friendly and are willing to help you succeed- they view you as more than “just a student number”. I remember that when I first took my Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Calculus, and English courses in my first semester here, I felt hopeless after receiving my first tests/exams back. I used to whine about it a lot in my instructors’ offices during their office hours (e.g. “Ahhhh this stuff is too hard I just want to drop the course now”, etc.), but they were willing to listen and helped me out. I ended up getting As in everything except English by the end of the semester. I was very glad to receive the support and questioned whether I would have received the same treatment if I ended up going to another insitution; I’m glad that I selected Douglas!

The best thing about the instructors is their willingness to help students succeed. If you show effort and you work hard people are willing to help you. The staff are really friendly here because of Douglas’s size you get to know the staff by face if not by name pretty quickly which is comforting.

  4. Dannis says:

The instructors at Douglas are truly teachers and they have the best intentions to help us learn. I have been able to succeed in my studies only because of the instruction that I have received and the consistent support and efforts by all my instructors.

The staff are also essential to creating our environment of learning. They have helped us look up obscure online articles, use technical audio visual equipment, coordinated with our grad committee and our multitude of fundraisers, emailed us when we receive a scholarship, and sat patiently stamping dates on our late assignments.

What I love about Douglas College is how involved every single instructor is to each and every student. You can count on all of them to make your experience at Douglas college memorable and also give you a chance to experience a family oriented environment wherever you go. Each class consists of the perfect ratio of students to instructors and this is one of the many reasons why I love coming to class every day, giving me a chance to participate in a wonderful and unique college I like to call home.

The SPSC/BIOL instructors are amazing because you can tell they love what they teach, which means that us students will be able to learn better. The teachers are there for us to succeed and they are able to help us out every step of the way! Very glad I chose to come to Douglas.

  8. Rachel Parent says:

At Douglas, the teachers really have taken the time understand the needs of many students and help them aceive their goals. They are also very respectful towards students and in return they gain our respect. Thanks

What I think is best about DC instructors and staff is they are all so helpful and friendly. I find the Business faculty to be extremely inviting in terms of any additional questions I may have or any extra help I may need. They all seem so experienced in the field and subjects they are instructing and it is always helpful when they relate a concept to an experience they may have had in the field.

  10. Keegan says:

The best thing about our instructors and staff is how they connect with the classroom. Due to the small class sizes, teachers are able to provide 1-on-1 support and advice. Their approachability and willingness to aide students in their successes makes Douglas College one of the best institutions around town!

Helpful! Just imagine being transferred a million times but still got no answer! Or being sent to tons of people but still got no clue! The possibility for that to happen in Douglas as compared to major university in Vancouver is much lower! Personal experience!
